Government senator Julian Francis returned to St. Vincent on Tuesday, from Barbados, where he was taken on July 24 for medical attention, after suffering a stroke.

Acting Prime Minister Montgomery Daniel confirmed that the 71-year-old politician, who is minister of urban development, energy, airports, seaports, grenadines affairs and local government, is back in St. Vincent.

“Let me also take this opportunity to express love and appreciation to our dear beloved Julian Francis, who, as you know, fell sick and was out of state,’ Daniel said on NBC Radio on Wednesday

“But information has come that he is back in state. He came in yesterday afternoon. And we welcome him back to St. Vincent. We wish to ask that his help be restored as soon as possible. And we just want to express our love and appreciation to him for the good work he has been doing for this country, St. Vincent and Grenadines.”

The acting prime minister did not give any information on Francis’ recovery, but Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said on Aug. 4 that the senator was improving

iWitness News has obtained a low-resolution photo, apparently taken from a significant distance, showing a man, said to be Francis, lying on a gurney near an airplane, with a black SUV parked nearby.
